Lan grabbed by the wrist and hissed," I've risked my life to save yours, and you want to go and risk it again?!" "There are twenty armed guards! You will be detected then tied up again, or killed, and I am not saving your sorry hide again!"

((Here's an interesting tidbit, Lan uses a thick soft leather armguard when he shoots so there is no slap as he releases his bowstring.))

Kearen blinked at him. She pulled her wrist away from him "Fine, your freind was on the coast a few miles from the town." Kearen said. She turned and started walking back "Gaurds or no, without it i can never go home and i will die if i do. I would rather die in the sevece of Drenkaz than in shame. I am a preistess, inheritant of the highest service."

Lan shook his head in amazement. What was so special about that staff? He turned around and walked off into the forest, towards Anvil.

Kearen shrugged, she would do this by herself then. She snuck back the way she had came, imagining herself a jaguire to help. She froze as a scout passed by, then moved agian after he had passed her by and would not be able to see her any longer. pausing at the edge of the camp she looked around to where she had last seen her staff. it wasnt there

((sure, I guess. This is kind of a sub-storyline on the site.))
Twenty bowmen patrolled the woods around the site where Kearen's staff was kept, because it was kept in The Commander's personal quarters. Another thirty swordsmen patrolled the forests for Kearen and Lan. And ten elite swordsmen guarded The Commander's personnal quaarters. Dire Sothe shifted in the huge tree near the camp. He had heard of a movement of a large un imperial army in the golden forrest and when he got there to check things out he nearly fainted when he saw the cleat marks in the ground. And it was all his fault. He should have closed the portal behind him but he wasn't thinking. Now he would redeem himself by killing his ultimate enemy. He heard small sound in the tree beside him and looked. "Hello old friend." came a gruff voice. He looked and saw nothing, then part of the tree shifted, and it seemed that a man stepped out of the tree. He was wearing a cloak that had made him blend into the tree. When he took off his hood Dire gasped. The man had solid white hair and gray eyes, but there was no mistaking. This man was Lan.

((Err...alright, I'll see what I can do.)) Nate sighed as he surveyed the group of bandits hanging unconscious from the trees. Now it makes sense why grandpa told me to be careful. I knew there were bandits here, but not in these numbers. He had just come to get some herbs, and these goofballs had tried to ambush him. Someone needs to come and clean these guys out of here. He smiled a little, remembering what his grandfather had said only an hour before he left. "You're too serious sometimes, Nate. You need to learn to loosen up." Nate himself didn't know why he was so serious; he just was. You need to get moving. There could be more, he reminded himself. He turned his back on the bandits and began searching the woods.

Kearen made a face at the gauds, even though they couldnt see her. She could feel anger boiling inside. Those dogs where not even worthy to touch her staff! Well, at least Lan would find Dire.

Dire nearly fell from his perch on the tree. There across from him was his old friend, Lan. His hair was solid white and his eyes had turned gray, and a scar ran across his face and over his eyes. He had a wood and leather longbow strapped to his back, along with two quivers of arrows attached to his belt, and there were numerous slight bulges along the length of his cloak, no doubt concealed daggers and knives. Lan replaced his hood, not wanting his bright hair to be seen among the trees. He whispered to Dire, "My friend is here, she came back after I rescued her, running after some staff. I think she knows you, her name is Kearen." Dire nodded to let Lan know he knew her. They were looking down on the clearing where The Commander's quarters were. Five men with long wicked katana's patrolled the perimeter, but they didn't look up. No one ever looked up. They sat silently in the trees, waiting for Kearen to appear. Lan looked to Dire. "Why are you here?" he asked. Dire whispered back, "I am killing The Commander, and bringing an end to this terrible disease I have unleashed on your world. "Lan shrugged, everyone had their reasons for what they did. They turned their gazes to the clearing, watching, waiting.

Dire glanced over at Lan. He was different than when he had seen him last. Any trace of humor that had been in him before was gone. He was a hard man, his eyes were unforgiving and not cruel, but they held something in them that was different than when he had seen him last.Perhaps lonelyness?? It was impossible to tell. He was standing so still that Dire had to stare at the spot Lan was last to find the outline of his figure. he himself was dressed in his leather and chain mail armor that he had bought at imperial city. He used throwing knives and a katana as wepons, but looking at Lan he saw more wepons concealed than he could keep up with, the man was a walking army. Lan's figure tensed for a moment. Dire followed Lan's gaze and saw a rustle of leaves. He stared harder and saw Kearen sneaking stealthily through the forest. They waited to see what she would do.

Kearen blinked and stopped looking at the archers, no blindspot. This person was smart. She looked at the tent, to bad she couldnt tell if anyone was inside. I guess I'll see when gaurd changes. She thought

Dire motioned to Lan. How are we going to get her attention? Lan shrugged and threw a small stone that had been in his boot. It bounced off the top of her head. She looked up and Lan raised a hand in greeting, Dire did likewise. Lan drew his bow and notched an arrow, and Dire withdrew three throwing knives from his belt. Lan saw that Kearen was waiting for a gap in the patrols. He waited for three seconds, the raised his longbow sideways, aimed, and fired. Dire followed the arrows path with his eyes. It went straight through the throat of one of the partrolling archers. There was her gap. He drew another arrow then motioned to her to move forwards. Dire hopped to another tree, readying himself.
