Locke began spinning his scythe in a wide circle, the flaming blade making a low humming as it sliced the air in front of him.
Knowing that he was no match for Kari, all he could do was stall until Jaster and Kaina could get away.
"Well Kari, I don't remember you being so bloodthristy. What's gotten into you, hm?"
Kari just walked onward, thinking only about killing one more human, her eyes dark and malicious.
Locke swung his scythe in a wide swath around him, tracing flames on the floor and near Kari, but she just walked onward, the flames licking at her feet, causing burns and blisters to appear, but causing no apparent pain.
Jaster and Kaina had begun backing up, and Kari seemed not to notice. All she cared about was her bloodlust for another human life.
Locke inwardly sighed a mental sigh of releif for the two as they began running out of the ballroom, up the stairs and to the second floor of the castle, probably to hide somewhere.
The Nine protect you both...

"I-I'm sorry." Jaster said, doubling back. Helping Kaina up, he enveloper her in a tight but brief hug.
"We'll make it out of this...I know we will..."

Kari just laughed. Fire. She loved fire. He thought a simple ring of flames could stop her...
With a swipe of her hand, the flames danced off the ground and into and orb that floated above her outstretched hand. Not bothering to talk or taunt, she flung the fire back at him, adding some white dragonpyre to the mix. If you aren't studied up in dragonpyre, as Locke was, you would just assume it was a colorful white flame. This would be incorrect, and fatally so. Dragonpyre, when in contact with any other material, will burn it until it is completely nonexistent. There is no way to put it out, save by the command of the dragoon who cast it. The only exception to this is polymerite, which cannot be affected by dragonpyre. Other dragoons, if skilled enough, can also call it off.
Leaping sideways, Locke barely managed to avoid the white flames that would have spelled his doom.
I'm no match for her...

"I'd get us out of here if I could..but I'm too weak right now....I'm sorry , Jaster..."she had a heartbroken look on her face.THat could tell all in a matter of seconds.

Meanwhile, Midknyght was sitting on a tower pearched like a gargoyle watching with great amusement at TsuKariNiMae's progress. This is all coming along oh so nicely he silently chuckled to himself.

"Can you walk?" Jaster asked, a concerned look on his face.
"We can at least try to get to the top of the castle...she seems intent on the scythe guy..."

SHe nodded and took off her shoes and walked close to Jaster, ignoring the throbbing pain in her ankle and hoping it wasn't showing on her face.

Down below, the battle was raging fiercley. Somehow, Locke was managing to stay alive, and Myrm still wasn't interfering. Observants weren't good for anything, Locke decided.

Crow was walking around a corner when he saw the carnage
"Bloody h-" He ducked as a fireball whizzed right by his head, scorching the crow feather on his cavaler. Drawing his daggers, he activated the invisibility spell on his ring and crept around the edges of the battle.

Kari smelt a new scent and quickly trapped it inside a ring of dragonpyre."They come to me now....so nice...I won't have to chase and waste my energy..but it would have been fun."she sighed and went back to her 'fun and games' with Locke."I tire of this now.I shall end it quickly."With that her own scythe came out of a burst of white dragon pyre.
"Now die!"She came at him ready to slaughter him at a speed unimaginable to humans.She had just seemed to disappear.Sonic booms marking her trail far behind her.

Kaina could fele the ground shake below her, she clung tight to JAster."...Jaster.....I'm scared....."she looked up at him again but this time with fear in her eyes.

Jaster held Kaina tight against him, offering whatever comfort he could.

Kari could feel it. The human's immenint death awaited. Her blade swung down and -
Faster than she herself had been moving, another figure lauched himself into the fray. Catching the scythe between both of his arms in an X like guard, he performed a magnificent reversal and sent Kari spinning across the room into a pillar, which shortly collapsed.
The dust cleared, and Kari looked up in rage to see a man with striking blonde hair and a beige cloak that covered almost his entire body. The only other features she could make out were a gauntlet on each arm, apparently immune to dragonpyre.
"Nice timing, boss." Locke commented, a harried look on his face.
The man didn't turn to acknowledge Locke but kept his eyes on Kari.
"Come, then." He said, emotionless, "I've fought worse than you."

Crow stood, watching in disbelief at the carnage before him. There was some demon attacking a man.......he shifted and scampered up acolumn to a balcony above. Oh no...not those two again. It seemed like trouble followed those two.

KAri growled in frustration at the new one here.She said nothing but encased her scythe in dragonpyre. "You shall regret this."her voice was cold and full of hatrid."Nothing comes between me and my prey."She spread her wings and was ready for her battle.

Kaina cuddled closer to Jaster." I wanna go home Jaster..." she buried her face in his coat and closed her eyes, the throbbing pain in her ankle becoming more and more unbearable by the second.

MidKnyght was growing irritated at this new arrival."If this is not over soon I will have to step in.......TsuKariNiMae..Your power is greater than this..why are you holding back?"

"Hyaah!" The cloaked man flew at Kari and jump kicked her scythe out from her hands and into the cieling. Transferring his momentum into his arms, he delivered two sucessive blows to eat side of Kari's torso. Flipping backwards, he thrust both feet into Kari's stomach and kicked off, sending himself towards the scythe that was still flying through the air. Grabbing it, he hurled it back at the recoiling Kari. Kari fell over on the ground, her scythe landing an intended two inches from the side of her face.
The man snorted in frustration - or was it annoyance? - and readjusted his cloak.
"You'll have to try harder than that. Locke, alert Myrm and Tremos to get the Count to safety at our headquarters."
* * *
Jaster wrapped his arms around Kaina, holding her closer.
"Shh...it'll be okay..."

"As you wish..."her voice was quiet.Kari took a deep breath ,all the air seemed to grow heavier by the second, and her scythe disappeared. Her claws seemed to grow longer, sharper, and even more threatening than before.A ring of her crystal extended in a circle from her feet and quickly enclosed all the exits in it. A simple thin ring of her crystal that was on each of her ankles, wrists , and her neck suddenly clicked and her armor was on her in a mere matter of seconds.She drew her fearsome looking sword."Rein Kuhn..."she said quietly to her self. A sudden pressure instantly slammed down on everyone and everything in the room, that could feel magii pressure.Kari held her sword up infront of her in a pose of challenge, waiting for her opponent to strike first.

Kaina cuddled closer to Jaster but then...the magii pressure hit her..hard.Her eyes grew wide in pain then she collapsed into unconsciousness.
