All credit goes to John. This is not the final draft and some things are prone to change.
Rules for Oblivia Guild
*Posting Rules*
1.) Mind your language. The word “Damn” and it’s forms are allowed for the sake of realism, but avoid further profanity, blaspheming, mention of sexually explicit things, and otherwise offensive language. This is intended to be a friendly environment were everyone feels comfortable, and if you feel that your language might violate that, search your vocabulary for a better way to get your message across.
2.) In addition to the prohibited items listed above, name calling and otherwise defaming other members of the forum are strictly prohibited.
3.) Boards have a purpose. If you have something to say find the right board to say it on. If you say something on the wrong board, that’s spamming. We don’t tolerate spamming.
4.) If you have something that must be said, and there is no thread that it fits under, start a new thread. However, if a thread exists for the same purpose as a thread you’ve started your thread will be deleted. It’s nothing personal, but having a bunch of useless threads lying about is a nightmare for organization and ease of use.
5.) Although not necessarily spamming, avoid advertising other roleplay sites in posts withot permission. If you wish to advertise, ask the Site Creator for permission first, or ask for affiliation.
6.)Avoid ranting against other members of the site. Not only does it harm the aforementioned comfortable environment, but it also may hurt that person's feelings, and in the case of staff members, could potentially undermine their authority and damage the site. If you have issues with another role-player, or a staff member that you can’t resolve by speaking with them PM a staff member with your complaint and the situation will be addressed.
7.) Violation of the above rules will result in warning, and/or the deletion or modification of the offending article. Repeated violation will result in warning bar addition, and eventual banning
*Role Playing Rules*
1.) You are not invincible. Eventually your character will succumb to Death’s cold, dark embrace. If you wish to avoid this, do not put your character in deadly situations and then have them magically overcome their wounds and live.
2.)You can't dodge everything that comes at you. And, as mentioned in the above rule, you can’t weather any blow you take.
3.)As an addendum to the above rules, consider your character and role-play accordingly. Some are quicker and more agile than others, and some can take more blows than normal, but no one fits in both categories.
4.) Rank and stars have a purpose. Your strength, as it compares to those around you, is determined entirely by stars and rank. The more stars you have, and the higher your rank, the more powerful you get.
5.)If you need to say something out of character put it in double brackets, parentheses, or braces. This is common notification of OOC speech. This kind of speaking should be kept to a minimum, and used only when necessary.
6.) If you want to role-play alone, make sure to mention it. Otherwise, don’t tell people where they can and can’t go.
7.) We are attempting to craft a sort of living, breathing world. As a result, you are no longer allowed to invent towns, cities, stretches of wilderness, all powerful villains, etc. We regret restricting your freedom, but it damages the cohesiveness if there are ten all powerful war lords in ten castles, all terrorizing their own tiny, innocent villages.
8.)We realize that this is a fantasy world, but please, try to avoid making your posts stupidly unrealistic. No causing giant explosions, no summoning magical dragons, and so on.
9.) Avoid cutting through your enemies as if they were made of card stock. We realize that at times you fight enemies that can be a tad underpowered, but if they don’t put up any fight at all, you should probably reconsider killing them.
10.) Keep your body count low. This, once again, falls under the realism umbrella. People have to come from somewhere, and nobody sits around farming children so they can grow up and fall to the forces of good.
11.) This site makes use of a fairly complex Magii system. Magic users must takeconsideration to work within this system. If you have questions concerning the Magii system, consult Link.
12.) Legendary Weapon Restriction
No one non-staff member is to ever obtain a weapon considered "legendary".
(Secret rule number 13.))
HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS POSSIBLE! ...Please?
*Chat Box rules *
1.) Posting rules concerning ranting, spamming, advertisements, and such all apply to the Cbox as well.
2.) Just because the Cbox has an auto censor doesn’t mean you can swear all you like. While we may not be able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt the word you used, we understand context clues, and will assume the worst.
3.) Violation of the Cbox rules will result in a five point warning bar addition per offending post.
