Cloud buried his fangs in Vincent's shoulder and he cried out in pain. He removed another dagger from his cloak and embedded it in the lean muscle of Cloud's left front leg. Cloud held his grip. And then, suddenly, his grip loosened. He was very drowsy. He also hadn't slept in days, which didn't help at all. There must have been something on the tip of that blade, he thought. He mentally cursed his bad luck and looked around the room.
Tifa, or at least who he assumed was Tifa, was in a chair, tied to it by rope. Blood covered her normally beautiful figure. Her black full tunic was ripped in several places and was also covered in blood. Cloud shivered. If he had been in human form, he would have wept violently her. But this was no time to weep. Vincent was nowhere to be seen.

Kadaj wondered through the forest outside of Bravil. Almost 700 years had passed now since he had carried on a real conversation with anyone. A human would have been driven mad, but he wasn't. He accepted his loneliness. Every now and then, he would encounter a criminal -a thief or murderer- and he would feed off of their blood, and sometimes he would help someone that was in mortal danger. But neither ever required extensive talking. It was almost 700 years ago that he decided that he would never become close to anyone again. He had learned his lesson: If you never said hello, you would never have to say good-bye.

Zeren came flying into the room and with a yell swiped at Vincent, landing a blow across his chest, then switched back to send the dagger flying from his hand. Zeren glanced at Cloud and saw the danger the werewolf was in. “Cloud start phasing! Back and forth!” He yelled as he continued to attack Vincent

((this'll probably sound pretty stupid but whatdaya mean by phasing?))
Cloud did as instructed. Vincent delt a punch to Zeren's head to try to knock him out. "I'll deal with you later," he said between gasps of breaths.
((oh, btw, the poison on the dagger was just supposed to make Cloud unconscious, not kill him))

((phasing is going from wolf to human and the other way a round. Zeren knocked the dagger from his hand. Zeren didnt have a dagger, he has a sword. )) Zeren fell over dazed, but then promptly lept back up with a pounding headache. Zeran swung his sword in a slow, but pratcied pattern. the speed picked up and made the air hum. Vincent had no choice but to try to follow the blade. Zeren could strike from anywhere whenever he wanted there was no way to tell where. Zeren had a silly half-formed smile on his face. Then he started talking in a vary slow voice in an unknown tounge. Zeren saw Vincent blink sleeply. Good working then he thought

Willow watched the werewolf blur, his shape indistinguishable, as he phased. A wolf, a man, the form inbetween. It was wild to watch. Willow, having made the descision to stay out of the way, crept sideways to reach Tifa, and wiped away some of the blood from her face with a hand, trying to avoid the many cuts. She looked like Kirian, there was so much blood. She wished the vampire was here, he might have been able to do something.

((ok, I got it))
Cloud winced as a human, then werewolf, then human, and repeated over and over again. The dagger in his arm/front leg hurt badly, but he tried to ignore the pain. Vincent was starting to fall asleep. His eyes kept falling shut, but he would snap them open again and again. Then, he tried to break away. He shook his head violently, trying to get rid of the hypnotic effect. After he finally did, he threw a smoke ball on the ground and ran up the stairs.

Cloud wasn't doing good. He couldn't keep phasing for much longer. And Vincent was escaping. That's it. Time to settle this once and for all! He stopped phasing in his wolf form and went up the stairs in something between a fast trot and a limp because he had left the dagger in his front leg. If he had removed it, he might have bled to death. He couldn't die before he killed Vincent and got both his sword and Zeren's daggers back.
Vincent ran. He was injured and could not really 'disappear' well as he often did. And now, some maniac werewolf was after him. Could that have been the same one who's sword I stole? How did I miss this from his mind and the girl's? He wasn't given much time to think though. Cloud was hard on his heels. Even with the poison dagger Vincent had planted in him, he would soon catch up to him. The door of the house flew open as Vincent hurried out and into the forest.
Kadaj watched as a werewolf with a dagger in his front left leg chased after some strange human. The human had gold boots and one gold arm. Hmmmm, this should be interesting, he thought.
Vincent continued to run until he stopped at a clearing. "My werewolf friend, this is where I must bid you ado."
Cloud ran into the clearing two seconds later. The scent ended. The trail ended. Vincent wasn't anywhere in sight. A voice called to him, "Well, may I ask why you were chasing him?" The voice obviously wasn't Vincent's. But that didn't make Cloud relieved one bit. He might have been one of Vincent's henchmen. A man came out from behind the cover of a large tree. He wore a black hooded cloak. He was wearing his hood, but Cloud could see a glimpse of silver hair. Cloud growled at the man but he showed no alarm. Instead, he grabbed Cloud by the throat and held him above the ground with inhuman strength. "Werewolf, I don't fear you. And I know about your collars ability. Do you think I am a fool? Turn back into a human and tell me, now."

This one didn't smell like a human. Cloud smelled..... blood. Could it be that he was a....... Could it? He decided to try his theory out. He turned back into a human. He tried to ignore the pain in his arm, but it was hard to and blood from the wound was dripping down his fingertips now. He eyed the possible vampire carefully. "So, you're a vampire, aren't you?" Without waiting for an answer,he demanded, "Set me down first, and then I'll tell you." Kadaj did and saw the dagger in Cloud's arm. His eyes widened inside the darkness of his cloak hood. The area around the blade of the dagger was covered with wolf fur! "How did that happen?" he asked. Cloud looked at his arm and gasped. He hadn't noticed before. When his suprise wore off, he spoke, "I don't have much time left. I have to try to catch him. I'm sorry. I'll tell you later." He turned back into his wolf form and started to run. Before Kadaj could catch him again, Cloud collapsed. Kadaj went over to him and knelt. He was unconscious. Kadaj carefully took the dagger out of Cloud's arm/wolf-leg and inspected it. It was tipped with poison. Nothing deadly though. Kadaj took out a bandage, which he took with him for such cases. He made a poltice out of some of the surrounding plant-life and dressed Cloud's wound. Hmmmm, curious, Kadaj thought. Very curious indeed. I guess the only thing I can do is to wait until he wakes up and then ask him.

Zeren walked over to where Tifa lay and snarled with disgust. Deftly ripping his shirt sleeve he started to clean some of the wounds. "Here in my bag, there are some herbs, the ones we need are in a blue packet." HE said to Willow

Tifa, still unconscious, shuddered. She did not wake though. She had lost a lot of blood.
It was a few hours before Cloud woke. Kadaj was sitting beside him, keeping watch over him. "You recovered faster than I thought," Kadaj said. Cloud jerked up and then stood. Tifa! he thought. He turned around in the direction he had come before and started to run, forgetting about Kadaj. Kadaj breathed a sigh. "Well, he sure is determined," he muttered to himself and followed him.
When Cloud arrived at the house again, he quickly went inside, through the hall, and down the stairway, aware of Kadaj following him the whole time. He didn't think the vampire meant any harm. If he did, Cloud would take care of him. He didn't have the time to allow himself to become subject to an interrogation from the vampire now, neither did he have time to question him. He turned into a human. His arm still hurt, but the pain was significantly lessened. He crouched over Tifa, blinking unshed tears away. He said, more to himself than anyone else, "This is all my fault.I shouldn't have left Kakrikya's shop. I thought they might show up there eventually. I should have waited to leave. If I had, we wouldn't have to be here." Kadaj looked over his shoulder at the young woman on the ground. Her face, now clear of blood, somewhat resembled........ He shook his head. It pained him to think about her. To relive the past........

"no, no its not your fault." Zeren said "you did what you thought was best, what more can we do?" HE looked around and saw the vampire "Buzz off. This isnt a snack bar!" HE growled

Kadaj ignored Zeren and kept looking at Tifa. He wasn't really hungry...... yet. He wasn't interested in snacking on anyone here unless they meant him harm. He simply took in the details, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. And now, he sensed an argument was about to break out on who's fault this was or wasn't-just like humans. That was one thing he couldn't understand about the mortals. He broke in before the argument started again, "I think your friend needs help..... from a magic healer. She's beyond bandages and herbs."
Cloud looked back at the vampire, still with his black hood over his head. The vampire had an aura about that made him seem ancient, but Cloud could not quite determine why he sensed it. He turned to Zeren. "He's right you know. But how will we get her to Kakrikya? She's all the way in Anvil. Tifa doesn't have that much time."

"we dont have to." Zeren said "I know an old healer who lives here. Saved my life when my... when i first got hurt real bad." Zeren contied tying bandages on. They would slow the bleeding at least. He gathered her carfully in his arms, not even brushing the wounds. "Her house is close o here luckily." Carefully he bumped his keeper. get rid of the Vampire, Cloud, I dont like him Zerens voice came mentally to Cloud

"Got it," Cloud responded. He turned to the vampire behind him. "This is none of your business. You've already seen why I was running after him. Its time for you to leave." Kadaj snarled. "Don't order me about, mortal child. I am your elder by countless years. Maybe you're right. Maybe this is none of my business, but do not pretend like you have authority over me." Cloud drew his sword and stabbed at Kadaj's torso.
Before he could, though, Kadaj drew his katana and parried and held the tip to Cloud's neck. "You don't want to try that. Now, I still have unanswered questions. So, if you agree to answer them, I'll leave as soon as you do. Agreed?" Cloud glared at him. "Can't you see she's dying? We have to leave now." Kadaj reasoned, "Very well. After you take her wherever you're taking her, come back here. You'll answer my questions then. If you're not back in two days, I'm coming after you and you'll be lucky if you last 10 seconds." Cloud agreed with a snarl of his own. "Okay." He motioned to Zeren and Willow to go ahead and leave.
Kadaj spoke again, "Oh, by the way, are you aware that there's a man lying unconscious upstairs? He'll wake up soon." Cloud glanced at Zeren, wondering if Zeren was thinking what he was thinking. He's our key to finding Vincent again.
