Kelyn walked carefully forward, making sure not to tread on a branch, so not a sound would give her away. Her long hair was clipped back with an ash clip, and her bangs were behind her ears, so not to obscure her vision. The vampire had vanished into an abandoned home, and Kelyn tightened her grip on the stake.
A moment later, the vampire hurtled from the shadows, taking her by surprise. Then, her instincts caught hold and she held the stake up. The vampire's eyes widened, the red glowing like a fire for a moment, and then dulling to a soft crimson, and then to a dark blue, the vampire's original color. The stake, coated in a chemical that reacted with the contents of the vampires body, began to smoke. Then, it caught flame, and Kelyn kicked him hard in the gut, forcing him back. He fell against a rock, and began to burn, letting out a silent wail.
She sneered in satisfaction, and began to walk to the other way, her hair falling free and around her waist, only a column of smoke behind her.

John hurdled through the forest as quietly as his size would allow, his bow strapped to his back and his axe in hand. His normally broad and jovial face was soured by grim determination as he raced towards his goal. The only sound that met his ears was the concert of crackling leaves and branches beneath his heavily booted feet.

Kelyn heard him before she saw him, and narrowed her eyes, drawing a saber off her back. It slid from the sheath with a sliding sound, it's blade flashing in the firelight. Her eyes flashed, and she stiffened, waiting to meet whatever was rapidly hurrying her way. Another vampire? She wondered. No, she corrected. To big. Either a werewolf or a...
The vampire hunter didn't get to finish the thought as John burst from the tree line, looking menacing and extremely grim. She thinned her mouth, and raised her blade. Her motto was, fight first, ask questions later.

John considered the slight girl standing before him, sword raised. Was she worth it? He doubted it. If he took the time to stop and slay every belligerent little wastrel who stepped in his way he would never get anything done. "Excuse me" he said "but I must continue on, I have important business with a certain someone in this part of the woods, and I really must find him."

"Certain business?" Kelyn said with a sneer. "You look like you're off to commit a massacre. A weapon that big really handy for a meeting? Or are you planning to kill?" It was none of her business, really, and she knew that, but all the same, she felt the need to ask, to pick a fight with the man before her. Her silver hair curled around her waist like a snake, a movement of the wind that she had the ability to control, at least in slight amounts.
In fact, with a slight murmur, the wind picked up at her request, sending a cold breeze John's way. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but annoying all the same.

"Oh" John said looking down at his drawn axe "Make no mistake, there will be killing." John made as if to leave, but thought better of it. "Don't worry" he decided to add "He has it coming, and he's hardly what you would call "human" anymore." Satisfied that the girl wouldn't be sending any authorities after him, John began to leave yet again.

Sounds like my kind of work, Kelyn thought, lowering her sword. The gleam in her eyes faded, replaced by something more hostile.
"I'm coming with you," she stated, sheathing her sabers and following behind him from a safe distance, in case he got antsy.

"Hmmm..." John sighed "fine, follow along, but watch your back." John turned and stepped out of the clearing into more thick woodlands. He couldn't stop her from following him, and besides, perhaps she could absorb a blow or two for him. Who knows, maybe she could even be a good person to have around, stranger things had happened.

"Sure," she said airily, following a few paces behind, tense and ready. If he tried a sneak blow, Kelyn was ready, but somehow, she didn't think he would.

John stepped through the thick foliage quickly. He knew he was around here somewhere, unfortunately "here" was a pretty broad area, and John didn't know any specific parts of "here" to check. He continued on through the forest thought, carting this strange woman behind him. He hoped she couldn't tell he was lost. Maybe she would get tired of wandering soon and leave. That would be a blessing.

John stepped through the brush, following a trail that he hoped would lead him where he was going. He turned his head quickly, looking to the east. He heard voices. Unless he was mistaken, familiar voices. "I'm sorry" he said, turning to the girl, "but something more important just came up. He turned his back on the girl, setting a brisk pace to the east. He held his Axe in front of him, making absolutely certain no vegetation would slow him down.
((John has left the area))
