They had been walking for ages. They were far away from the known reaches of their map, and possibly, the world. Days, perhaps months from civilization, they had set up camp under a large willow tree, it's branches spread above their heads. It did not provide shade, however, for they were so far away from the known world that the sun seemed to never shine. Dark clouds constantly blanketed the sky, and it was a wonder that the tree had grown this tall without sunlight.
Hurricane walked over to the woman traveling with him, his cloak swaying in the cold, harsh breeze that blew throughout the desolated area. Their search continued on, but they had found nothing yet.
"Do you remember when you first met him?" the Hurricane mildly commented, his face blank of emotion.
"Hardly," the woman laughed, but it was humorless. The world seemed to hold no humor anymore...
"It was quite some time ago..."

It had been at a diplomatic meeting of two of the greatest powers in the known world. Two factions that had held an alliance for eras on end. Two factions that would later be destroyed by the hate of others. But that event is far off, and unknown the the clans. They are focused on their next primary state of action against a race known as the shades, or shadows. The shades hated the dragoons, and tried their best to wide them out. In the past, they have failed, and they haven't succeeded yet, but the clans want to make sure they never succeed. The dragoonian race was thought to be immortal: no one knew it's origin, not even it's own members, and seldom did a dragoon die, albiet by battle.
They were mere children then, just around the age of six or seven in dragoonian years. The meeting was boring to them, for they did not care about war yet. How could they know that that would change so soon?
She saw him at the meeting, sitting across from her at one of the tables. The red haired boy seemed bored, almost asleep.
Zodack whispered something in his ear and he got up and left the room. She only knew who Zodack was, because, well, everyone did. He was the one of the greatest fighters the world had ever known, not the mention that he was the king of the Extraxi.
"Maybe you should leave too. You can always make a new friend."
That was her father, the leader of NyghtWyng. She was thankful for the consent to leave; she was getting pretty bored as well.
Walking out into the halls of the Extraxi capital, she wondered where he had gone. The castle was so big, with it's gold-yellow walls hung with robust paintings and it's large rooms that were ornatley furnished. After walking for a few minutes, she came across a door that lead outside. She could hear the sound of bubbling and rushing water.
Opening the door, she stepped out into a courtyard filled with fountains. Perhaps two dozen, maybe more. The boy sat beside a single one and seemed to stare into it. She wondered if he was asleep. Walking up beside him, she sat down.
"Hey. Are you asleep?"
The boy turned his head to her.
"No. Who are you?"
"My name is TsuKariNiMae. I'm the daughter of the NyghtWyng Count."
"Oh, neat. I've never been to the capital before. I hear it's dark.."
"Not really, but it certainly isn't as shiny as here."
The boy smiled, then turned back to the fountain.
"I come here when I'm bored. It's my favorite place in the entire capital."
"Oh...I can see why. Oh hey, I never asked you your name."
"Ah...my name is Link. Link Ecrai."
"Well then, Link Ecrai, want to be friends?"

"A pity you can't remember more. The Golden Era was one of the best points in our history. Only a few know the true extent of what happened to make it disappear."
The woman sighed, holding her head in one hand.
"I wish I could. You know what happened to my memory, Hurricane, I was lucky to get any back."
The wind picked up, seeming to slice through the two figures, but they showed no sign of cold. They had been in countless wars and struggles; they weren't about to let wind phase them.
"He was a good friend, you know." The woman had said that.
"Yes. An amazing fighter as well." His face was still blank.
She nodded.
"He was so fast and precise. There were few who equaled him."
"You fought side by side, you know. That's what everyone says." The willow tree was was bending this way and that in the wind, it's branches dancing in the air.
"Do you remember?"
