Gwydion rode his horse through Seadale. When he saw a nearby stable, he realized that the horses hadn't rested since Alodale. He motioned to Jenoveve that he was stopping and rode his horse to the stable, got off, and led his horse to a nearby pile of hay and a trough of water. The horse drank deeply.
To Jenoveve, he said, "So, while we're waiting, we might as well make conversation. How did you come to be in this rangers' guild?"

At first she looked at him suspiciously, but then softened. "I used to live in a rich house, I had everything I wanted. But my parents had made the wrong enemies, and one night, a group of bandits burned down the house. Both of my parents died, and I was captured by the bandits. They took me back to their fort and threw me in a dungeon. I was there for at least two days with nothing to eat or drink. But then, one day, I heard shouting form outside. A bandit entered the cell and dragged me out, putting a knife to my throat. He was running from someone, and needed a hostage. We got to the end of the hall, when I saw what seemed like a shadow at the far end of the corridor. Before I could figure out what was hapening, a black shafted arrow struck the bandit's neck. The Ranger's had come to rescue me. There were only three of them, but they had killed at least twenty bandits. So I joined them. That was two years ago, and now I am a shadow for the guild. Shadow's are messenger's and assasins. I was sent to get you and bring you to issil. And that is my story." She said, then lapsed into silence.

Gwydion listened intently to Jenoveve's story. "I am sorry for the loss of your parents. I know how it feels." He looked at his feet as he continued, "I lost mine a few years ago. Though, not all my family is gone. I still have my sister. Or, rather, what's left of her...." he said with a hint of sadness in his voice.
He snapped out of it. "Well, that is enough about me. We better get going if we are to make it to Issil." He brought his horse out of the stable, already saddled, and got on.
