I think the most expensive violin out there is worth about 6 million dollars. Rich people usually buy violins like that as an investment and rent it out to the most promising new violinist they can find. (Usually, it's some soloist in a famous Orchestra that won some big contest.) My private teacher was allowed to play a 200-year-old violin that belonged to a musical college, once. (He had to give it back after the concert, of course.)

i think my violin cost over 4,000 dollors, and it's not thie nicest you can get! i've hear of one being acutiond at over 12,000 before
