Yeah, most of the Megaman games are pretty good. Watching the TV show(s) can give you a good idea of the plot. But yeah, you play as a computer program (*cough*Megaman*cough*) who's built to fight viruses and such as a "Net-navi", with I'm guessing stands for Network Navigator. In the show, Megaman has to battle viruses, but there's also tournaments and such that he and his partner (Lan O.O) compete in. (I forgot the guy's name is Lan. O.o)

Yes, well, the Battle Network series ended in BN6, and the two Star Force games are the newest addition. Taken in a "from the back" 3D perspective, the battles are a lot more fun. You play as Geo Stelar who meets an alien named War-Roack (okay, so it's Omega-Xis for America, but Japan always has everything better). To stop the destruction of his planet and find out about the disappearance of his dad, he befriends War Rock and is able to perform an EM wave change. They fuse and go into the EM wave world (where the aliens, EM beings, are visible. Geo can see them regardless because of his dad's glasses the he has. He doesn't wear them all the time, but since his dad gave them to him he always has them on his forehead). The viruses are fun, and in the first game, the bosses are other EM beings who fuse with people to fight you. They're based off of constelations. Taurus Fire, Cygnus Wing, Wolf Woods, Crown Thunder, Gemini Spark, Queen Ophucia, Libra Scales, Harp (Lyra, for Japan) Note...
Lyra Note turns good and is kinda like the Mayl of the series. She and another girl both have crushes on Geo. I think Lyra Note is better for him, anyways. Luna is stupid and bossy.
Umm... during the course of the first game (which was released in a trio: Dragon, Pegasus, and Leo), you gain the power of your satellite admin (everyone has a transer on their arm, sort of like a PET. Works through one of three satellites.) and can use the power of Star Force to transform into either Dragon MegaMan, Pegasus MegaMan, or Leo MegaMan. Dragon is grass, Pegasus is Water (ice technically, but if you must go by the elements..) and Leo is fire.
Full synchro has been replaced by a new system. Whenever you counter hit, the opponent is paralyzed and you get a bonus chip from your folder. Could be anything, and you can resuse chips, too. So you can use your Giga like three times. When you're in one of the three forms, however, you get an SFB (Star Force Big Bang), which is essentially a realy strong attack... Dragon has Dragon Cyclone. He spins around, makes a tornado and runs everything over with it. Pegasus has Magician's Freeze. A cirlce of runes appear on the back 3x3 panels, then explodes into spikes of ice. Unblockable and freezes them afterwards. Leo has Leo Blazer, a big, Dragon Ball Z like massive forward blast that blows everything up.
The "Brother System" lets you register up to six friends on your game that also have the game. You can use their favorite cards via a Roulette (you get to pick four from your folder. Essentially, then makes them into gray cards, which function like * cards from BN). You can also use their Admin form from their game if they have a different version. For example, if you are Pegasus and have a Dragon brother, you can go Dragon during the battle if you want.
If there's anything I forgot to cover about the first game...eeh...no one will know but Storm and Kari. XD
The second additioin to the series, which just recently came out, was released in two versions: Zerker x Saurian and Zerker x Ninja
There are still three forms, but only two games. Each game lets you pick what form to play as, and gives you the other later on. The only distinct different thing about SF2 is that the bosses are cooler, it has Bly (Burai, Rogue, whatever, look him up), and instead of just going into one form, you can fuse them. Up to three fusions can occur, the final making you into Tribe King, which doubles the attack power of all your cards for three turns, and gives you the bonuses for all forms.
Ninja is wood and throws shuriken and stuff. His SFB (called LFB in Star Force 2) is Demon Flurry. He creates two illusions of himself and precedes to bombard the field with a ton of shuriken Zeker's is Thunder Blade. The sword he wields gets larger, and he swipes it across the field twice, then brings it down for an explosion of thunder. He's electric. Saurian has Genocide Blazer. Similar to Leo's, it's a massive beam of fire the he brings across the field. He's fire element.
Fusing them is cool. It changes their LFB around, and gives them different abilities and stuff. For example, I'm Ninja. The two fusions I can use are Ninja-Zerker and Ninja-Saurian. That lets me use Element Blade and Emna Gale Barrage. Element Blade is two swipes of lightning from the sword, then instead of thunder it summons a cyclone that's not unlike Dragon from the first game. Emna Gale Barrage is like Demon Flurry, but on the second round of Shuriken they're on fire.
Tribe King gets Kaiser Delta Breaker. Very scary.
There are a lot of fusions depending on who you start out as. Ninja has Ninja-Zerker and Ninja-Saurian Zerker has Zerker-Ninja (which is, infact, different from the one above.) and Zerker-Saurin Saurian has Saurian-Ninja and Saurin-Zerker.
THey're all different.
It takes a lot, and I mean a lot of explaining to detail both games, although I've 100%'d them both. If there's anything else you need to know, just ask. XD

Do you get to use the abilities of the bosses you defeat? That's been one of the staples of the series since Megaman ZX.

Whereas that's been a staple of the majority of side scrolling games, on the BN and SF series, you get Mega Cards, which let you summon the boss to use an attack. They range from standard, EX, and SP. SP is obtained only by beating the boss in 30 seconds or less, and gets stronger for every 5 seconds faster that you delete them. So I suppose, yes.
