Our sectionleader is a big crybaby so no one else ever gets a good Xylo or Drumset part for ANY piece. Ever.

I agree with him on some points, but to whine as much as he does is inholy.

thats not how section leaders work in orchestra every one plays the same thing unless its divided double-stops the outside takes top and inside takes bottom

Yes, but Percussion is different. No parts are better or less important, but some parts are more fun than others. And our Section Leader believes it's all about him having fun.

Our percussion is the loudest section. Try having 6 snare drums playing in your ear at the same time.
