i guess its just really how you play them. i've heard that Gilliam is good but i don't get to train him on the field. i never use eirika much in battle. lute and franze are my two main characters

Joshua is awesome as a Swordmaster, Colm as a Rogue (I NEVER want to make him an assasin again. X( ), Ross as a Berserker, and Artur as a Bishop. I make Garcia and Gerik Heroes, Gilliam and Amelia Generals, all three Cavaliers Palidens, as well as making Ewan and Knoll Summoners. I make Cormag a Wyvern Knight (I think), Tana and Vanessa Falconknights, Neimi a Ranger, L'Arachel a Valkarie, and Lute a Mage Knight. I think that's about it.

He was too weak, and I missed a lot of chests because he's the only unit able to steal and pick locks besides Rennac. I love stealing in those games.

i always had either rennac, or a raft of chest keys, however i do agree colm is weak as an assassin, but he never gets hit and has a huge critical hit percentage, not to mention a chance for silencer

Joshua's critical was way better, and he was stronger. I don't like assasins when I can have a swordmaster.

well joshua's critical is better than anyone's and the choice with colm is not swordmaster or assassin, but assassin or rogue, and rouges are hardly useful, imho

I like Rogues. They're more powerful than Assasins if you train them right, and they have roughly the same dodge rate. Plus the ability to steal and pick locks. Imho.

rouges can steal and pick locks sure, but thats no replacement for the unstoppable killing machine an assassin can be with the right weapon

Criticals aren't worth anything if you can't do any damage. A swordmaster could hit a critical on Gilliam and not do any damage at all.

but sword masters cant get a silencer, in which case it doesnt make any difference if you were originally going to do damage or not

From my experience, assasins might as well not have it. The only time it worked is when I didn't need it to.

yeah, i suppose it might not be the single most useful ability, especially when you think about the bishops slayer ability, thats a pretty great one
