John approaches the guard nearest the gate, "excuse me" john says, the guard looks up, but remains silent. "Wheres the nearest blacksmith" John inquires, the guard points a finger indicating the far side of the city. "thanks" john said and left the silent guard.

As john makes his way across town he sees a group of three guards huddled around in a circle whispering, as John draws near they all cease talking and stare while he passes. "excuse me" someone says, john turned his head, standing in front of him is a beggar, "sorry" says john "i dont have a spare coin on me" "no, meet me behind the blacksmith's in a little while, i think we need to talk"

John nods in agreement, seeing as he was already headed to the blacksmith's. The strange beggar turns away and walks toward the town gate, past the guards and out of anvil. John shook his head in confusion and continued on to his destination

John entered the blacksmith's shop and looked around. Nothing out of the ordinary, a blazing hearth, racks of weapons and armor decorating they grey stone interior of the small building. John approached the blacksmith, a broad shouldered old man with greying hair and grizzled face. "What can you tell me about this?" asked john drawing his recently acquired axe weerlig.

"this" said the blacksmith "is an interesting weapon. the head has been thinned down and the edge has been sharpened to give it a more sword-like effect on contact, and it weighs considerably less than most axes" the blacksmith handed weerlig back to john, john thanked him and left the building

"what exactly is this" asked john "we" said Jauntis "are a group of impovershed citizens who are dedicated to killing the chief of the anvil guards" "that sounds like dangerous talk" said john "what reason to you have to kill him" "the guards have been out of control lately" said Jauntis "the taxes they take up are getting higher and higher, and if you dont pay them, they drag you off to prison. most of the guards are apprehensive about the cruelty, but theres nothing they can do, the chief controls all of them"

"so what do you need me for" john asked "well" Jauntis said "the guard chief knows us all, theres no way we could get any where near him, but you, he has no idea who you are, we need you to get close to him and do the job" "now that sounds dangerous" said john "how are you going to compensate me for that sort of job"

((yeah i know:D)) "quiet" hissed one of the beggars, the group dispersed themselves just in time as a group of guards turned the corner to the small cluster of buildings the group was located behind. John began to walk toward an inn he had spotted on his way across town when he was stopped by one of the guards "excuse me" he said "im Korrell, capten of the guards here in anvil, i dont believe ive seen you around" "oh" said John "im a traveler stopping by, ive only been in town for a few hours" "well i hope i wont see any trouble from you" korrell said with a menacing chime in his voice. "Im sure you wont" said john

John stepped into the inn and approached the proprietor and paid her for a room. He climbed the stairs and opened the door to his room, only to find Jauntis standing inside "so" he said "i trust youll accept our proposition, as far as a reward is concerned, trust me, it will be worth your while" "Fine" John said "ill do it" "good " Jauntis replied, "Ill find you when your done" after that he left as quickly as he came. John sat down on the bed and placed his axe on the table as he prepared to rest. He was begining to think Jauntis was more dangerous than korrell

John sat on a bench outside the inn where he was staying, he had been sitting there all day, watching the patrols weave through the streets scouting for crime. John continued to watch quietly if his guess was correct Korrell was about to enter the eastern watch tower, he would be alone inside of the tower for ten minutes until another soldier left duty. this ten minutes was the entirety of John's window of opportunity

Korrell entered the watchtower at the time John predicted, give or take a few minutes, he didnt notice John sitting on the bench outside, because John had left the bench a few moments prior to wait inside the watchtower. John from his postion in a corner behind a soldiers bed watched, and slowly began to creep up as korrell took of his guard armor.

John drew Weerlig from its sling on his back, and raised up above his head, preparing to strike down Korrell, He took a step forward and brought down his axe, but right as he did korrell started to turn around, and striking a lethal blow to his head his axe sunk deep into Korrel's shoulder. It was at that moment Korrell did exactly wat John had been trying to avoid, he screamed, he screamed loud and long, so John was certain every guard in anvil was rushing up into the watchtower to save him. John pulled on his axe but it was stuck tight in Korrell's flesh, John continued to pull, then kicked him square in the back, knocking him down and freeing John's blade. John looked down at the dying man, brought his axe up again and finished the job

John dragged the body of Korrell upstairs and shoved into a dresser in the top of the watch tower and ran back down expecting to see a horde of guards waiting for him, but instead he just found Jauntis, who had dressed him self in korrells armor
